This much is True

This much is true … my heart still belongs to you.

There may never be anyone like you.

We held on through the tough times

But when that last axe fell we couldn’t bear it any longer

It doesn’t matter now what was wrong with you.

I never looked within to find the crack

It was not too much to ask of you

This much is true … my heart still belongs to you

I’m glad I met you again

The misunderstandings have cleared up now

How could I have ever given up on you?

In the beginning, time had stood still – it was all about you.

The clock ticked slowly, dragging me down that hill.

This much is true … my heart still belongs to you.

All the while we were apart, the pain of separation magnified tenfold

Then the years flew by, never knowing if I would ever see you again

Others have come and gone in that time but no one has been like you

I’m glad we can try again once more. Make a fresh start

No matter what happens

This much is true … my heart still belongs to you

I’m so happy to have met you again. The hardest thing was letting go

Now that I have found you again – I am simply thrilled

Never thinking we could ever be together again

Yet here you are standing within an inch of me

We may be older and wiser but our love is still young

Matured with a slight twist in fate, but altogether working better for us

Now in our autumnal years against the backdrop of the spring season

We have both had enough of our pasts

As we see each other we know all too well

It was well worth the wait and the thrill

This much is true … my heart still belongs to you …

Believe in Yourself

“If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.”  –  Henry Ford

Believing in yourself can sometimes be the hardest thing to do. As humans it is perfectly natural for us to be plagued by doubts and insecurities. It’s when these insecurities take over our inner thoughts that our quality of life becomes compromised. We begin to doubt our own capabilities. Yet each of us is gifted with a unique talent. You need to find it and harness the best aspects of your life and build on these strengths.

You can believe in anything if you desperately want to. Why not begin by believing in yourself? If you are a visual person you can view your belief in your mind’s eye if you try hard enough and for long enough. You can hear it in your mind if you are an audio person.

Consider this: if you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect others to believe in you? Would you believe in a person who has no self-belief? Of course not, that person’s insecurity shows through their tone of voice and body language. When you believe in yourself this shows in your attitude and behaviour as well as body language.

In my younger days, I would doubt my abilities continuously. Everything I did was just not good enough by my standards. But the truth was, as I grew older, I learned that the insecurity was all in my mind.

What can help us to keep our minds clear of such doubts? Suggestions for making that little change in life towards believing in yourself:

  • When we are feeling down, sometimes all we need is a little diversion. We need to occupy our minds with something of interest – a hobby maybe. Any thought which takes you away from the stress factor is a positive thing.
  • Focus on your positive attributes and you will begin to swerve away from the negativity.
  • Question your negative beliefs before they settle in. Try to invert them by turning them inside out. You will be forced to take a fresh approach.

When you start to chase away the demons residing in your mind and begin to truly believe in yourself, you will notice something remarkable happening. As you relax, you will be able to focus on your abilities and ways to resolve problems instead of magnifying your anxieties. All you need to do is repeat the mantra “I can do this” or something personally inspiring to your needs, and you know what – you will be able to do whatever it is you need to do.

Whatever your personal belief is, do yourself a favour and add your own name to the internal list of beliefs you hold and guard so closely. Keep repeating your positive affirmation and you will successfully internalize it. This is because all your beliefs stem from your unconscious. Your true personality is buried in your unconscious. But you have the power to alter and change aspects you are not happy with.

Perhaps you know of some fantastic mantras which have worked for you.
